  5.    Second, this installation program will copy all required runtime libraries
  6.    to your OS/2 system directory.
  7.    Third, Click "playmate.exe" on "PlayMate for OS/2 CD-ROM" and launch.

  11.    ABOUT SHAREWARE...
  12.    
  13.    Shareware (also known as user supported software and other names) is a
  14.    concept not understood by everyone.  The authors of Shareware retain all
  15.    rights to the software under the copyright laws while still allowing
  16.    free distribution.  This gives the user the chance to freely obtain and
  17.    try out software to see if it fits his needs.  Shareware should not be
  18.    confused with Public Domain software even though they are often obtained
  19.    from the same sources.

  21.    If you continue to use Shareware after trying it out, you are expected
  22.    to register your use with the author and pay a registration fee.  What
  23.    you get in return depends on the author, but may include a printed
  24.    manual, free updates, telephone support, etc.  Only by paying for the
  25.    Shareware you use do you enable the Shareware author to continue to
  26.    support his software and create new programs.  Considering that the
  27.    Shareware registration fees are almost always far less than the purchase
  28.    price of comparable retail software it's obvious that Shareware is a
  29.    good deal for everyone.

  31.    One common misconception is that the author receives payment from the
  32.    disk distributors.  This is not true; the small fee that you
  33.    initially pay a distributor to obtain an unregistered copy of a
  34.    Shareware program only pays for the distributors costs.  Shareware
  35.    authors do not receive any royalties and only get paid if you send in
  36.    the registration for programs you use.

  38.    There are real advantages to you in the Shareware system.  You get to
  39.    try out software to make sure it is compatible with your hardware and
  40.    that it fits your needs before you "buy" it with your registration.
  41.    The author saves the expense of advertising, packaging and distribution
  42.    and passes the savings on to you.  Plus, most Shareware authors are
  43.    much more accessible than retail software sources so that your
  44.    questions and suggestions are much more likely to be responded to.
